and the second the Medecine Faculty. The Spanish universities were the model that was used for the creation of the higher public education institution in Bolivia.
They also corresponded to the semifeudal structure which extended in the country until the year 1952, year of the National Revolution which finished the huge landed estates and brought the mines under government control. Previously, as a result of the reforming influence of Cordoba, twords 1928 the university students guided by José Antonio Arze started a movement which gave place to Universitary Authonomy and later, to the Student Teacher Shared Governmentl. In reality, the referendum of 1931 during the government of Gral. Carlos Blanco Galindo possibilitated the rearrangeing of the university to modern structures, ending a period of a monastery structure.
The student entrance to the UMSS is regulated by and admission through
which they can achieve their pass into the career they chose. There are preparatory courses which level the knowledge of the students. The university authorities have stated that any student –national or foreigner- to be admitted must present his School Diploma or Study
Certificate pay an admission and other fees and take a medical exam at the University Medical Service.
