According to experts just three to four hours of rain are enough to almost completely flood the city of Trinidad, capital of the department of Beni, in northeast bolivia.
40000 people must be evacuated, there are already 17000 living in tents and improvised shelters. Many complain that the government has acted too slow and that help was already needed almost a month ago. The bolivian government declared Beni an area of national disaster just this week.
Aproximately 160000 square km are flooded in Beni, which has an extension of 200000 square km. The situation is still not improving and help is very needed. In cochabamba many people are gathering food, clothes and other goods and sending them to Beni through institutions like the Catholica church or NGOs, unfortunelly government agencies are very corrupt and nobody trusts giving any donations to them.
